Rare Antique 1700s French Snuff Box, Vernis Martin Style & Miniature Painting

Absolutely French, this glorious hand painted snuff box is remarkable at 200+ years old! Experts invariably date these to the Louis XIV period, late 1700s to earliest 1800s. Amazing to think of the history a piece like this brings with it. Entirely hand painted, with foliate & laurel bands and several Classical themed figures or figural groupings. The top holds a hand painted miniature with a Diana the Huntress motif, bow and arrow filled quivers. Very good condition for it's age, with only minor wear & tear which is quite normal for these old ones. No age or shrinkage cracks to the box. The top miniature oil painting is painted on a slightly convex bronze panel.

Exceptional antique French makeup compact circa early 20th century. Entire compact has guilloche decoration with applied ribbons and acanthus leaves. Center of cover features an oval frame with diamonds encased by a scalloped panel of white enamel. Compact opens with a mirror on one side and two covered compartments on the other.

Up for your consideration rare antique Imperial Russian 84 gilded silver cigarette case decorated with multicolor polychrome enamel, made by Moscow silversmith Ivan Zakharov and came from Pennsylvania prominent collection. Marked for 1886 Moscow 84 silver and Ivan Zakharov silvermark on both sides. Very rare piece in excellent condition consistent with age and use. Monogrammed in the cartouche on one side.
